Fed economic projections published December 2021: In 2022 the Fed funds rate will be less than 1% & GDP growth will be 4%. In December 2022 the Fed funds rate is now 4.25% and 2022 GDP growth they now show is at 0.5%. Why is anybody still listening to these people?

My prediction is the unemployment figs will still be tame in 2023, and another inflationary wave will build when Biden starts refilling the SPR and China reopens (2 bug themes in 2023 imo). Powell will become more hawkish by then to crush the labour market.

The market isn’t selling off because the Federal Reserve raised rates by 0.5%! The market is selling off because it’s pricing in a terminal rate between 5.0% and 5.5%, based on the midpoint of the dot plot in the SEP. The market had just gotten comfortable with 5.0%.
