@R89Capital Republican politicians basically exist to protect pedophiles and to keep them out of prison.

@mtzimmer1 @nic_carter @izme_josh Because if they don't pay taxes, their wealth keeps growing. Wealth inequality is bad for society and the economy in a hundred different ways.

@mtzimmer1 @nic_carter @izme_josh The larger point is that massive wealth gains by the billionaires go untaxed. They do pay taxes, but only on income which isn't how they make most of their money.

@mtzimmer1 @nic_carter @izme_josh It's a strategy called buy, borrow, die. It allows the ultra rich to pay a lower tax rate than the average worker. If he just sits on his shares and doesn't sell them, he doesn't ever have to pay taxes even though his wealth continues to rise.

@egregious_poop @__ct__g @Subverted_ @nic_carter @izme_josh In stocks. They use this method so they never have to pay taxes. These billionaires would rather pay interest or buy a politician than pay taxes. They are the most un-American group of people in the entire country.

@Dmandork @nic_carter @izme_josh Cool, so let the billionaires own all the money? Sounds like a great plan.

@Anonymoustache9 @nic_carter @izme_josh Workers who earn a wage pay a higher percent of their pay than these guys. 3.8 billion is nothing compared to what he has. This country made him rich and he contributes nothing back.

@__ct__g @Subverted_ @egregious_poop @nic_carter @izme_josh If you want to fix the distribution, you fiest need to tax it away from the people hoarding it. Simultaneously you can give workers the ability to have collective bargaining to get a bigger slice of the income. When we destroyed unions, wealth inequality grew out of control.

@AddictedtoArg @nic_carter @izme_josh You are explaining the ruse and saying its fine and normal. I don't want a country run by shareholders and oligarchs. These people would rather buy a president than help fund a hospital or a school and its disgusting.

@EarlyRiser4 @nic_carter @izme_josh Sorry, not wealth. We had a very high top marginal rate to prevent exorbitant incomes.

@EarlyRiser4 @nic_carter @izme_josh America used to be this way and it was great. We built things, tariffed imports to protect our industries, had strong unions, taxed wealth to limit exorbitant incomes, and income rose with productivity for the average worker.

@EarlyRiser4 @nic_carter @izme_josh Not if done nationally. Aggressively tax everything over a billion and implement a massive exit tax if you want to move your wealth out of the country.

@AddictedtoArg @nic_carter @izme_josh Why aren't income taxes viewed the same way? Your employer pays taxes on business income, you also pay taxes on your salary paid by your employer. Why are stocks not taxed the same way. The tax laws were written by rich people to help them get richer.

@Curious44315542 @nic_carter @izme_josh Yes as a monopoly forms and grows its dominance, it needs more employees. I'm not saying google is uniquely evil here, but monopolies kill competition, they harm small businesses that interact with them, and can destroy entire industries. The jobs that replace those are worse.

@Curious44315542 @nic_carter @izme_josh The ideas are connected, stocks go up as more people are laid off and pay is reduced. This harms the middle class. Labor should have representatives on the board of every public company and have the power to negotiate exactly what fair pay is.

@Subverted_ @egregious_poop @nic_carter @izme_josh 50 years ago, the wealthiest dude had 2 billion dollars and America had a much less extreme wealth distribution. If you build something incredible, why do you need to have hundreds of billions of dollars? No one can ever explain that to me, I just get "well they earned it"
