The blackout isn't a special event, by the way - it happens before every Fed meeting, eight times a year. The silence only feels ominous because the guessing gets so loud.
The Fed goes quiet this week. With the October 27–28 decision on deck, officials say nothing until the vote, and markets price in their own guesses. Back in January, markets expected cuts. Now the favorite for the 28th is a hold - with a hike on the table for December.
Here comes the real test. Netflix reports Tuesday, Meta and Tesla report Wednesday, with IBM, Lam Research, and GM too. Morgan Stanley calls this the mid-cycle of the AI trade, with focus shifting from enablers to adopters. Does all this AI spending turn into durable earnings?
