I am excited to share that I am a @upsurgegrants fellow and have been awarded a grant to build language models for Indian regional languages at @tuluaihq. Excited for the next few months and this will impact the lives of billions.

Since ChatGPT, Grok, Gemin, .etc does not talk in Tulu. I literally built my own AI powered conversational bot that interacts with me in Tulu. This is the future we are building over at @tuluaihq.

So I love playing with fire. Went ahead and released a small language model for the Tulu language on @huggingface. This is my first time and my goal is to launch, make mistakes, refine and learn.
Some update with the @tuluaihq project : I joined the @lossfunk community being run by @paraschopra. My goal for the next few days/weeks is to train a MT5 model with a Tulu dataset that I am building from scratch and I will be documenting everything in public. If this works…
I am excited to share that I got accepted into @_TheResidency’s Delta. For the next 3 weeks, I am going on hardcore build mode and building out @Flashmateshq & @tuluaihq in public. Cc: @neervj @nick_linck @hardeep_gambhir
We made @ChatGPTapp and @grok talk in Tulu. We now have a dataset and working on building our own small language model for Tulu. If an LLM can learn Tulu, it is definitely possible to train a model to learn Tulu from scratch.

I have not shared much updates on TuluAI recently. We have been cooking and I am quite proud of the progress that we are making. It’s tough given that we are building this from scratch without any support or funding. This one is close to my heart.
We are looking to partner with universities in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi to build a SOTA foundational model. Please do reach out if this is you.
