when i was a kid i used to think adults were being patronizing when they said shit like "you're getting so big!" but now i'm in my thirties and i have a lot more friends who have kids and let me tell you something those fuckers are gettin bigger than hell
@tveite @whitneyarner It wasn’t until my 30s that I realized it’s way more about adults reacting to a visual measure of the passage of time & their own aging than really being interested in a kid’s growth spurt
@tveite Also never knowing how to respond to a random adult saying "Wow, I haven't seen you since you were only this 🤏 tall" and now I will surely end up inflicting this on some other equally nonplussed kid.
@tveite And it happens so fast!!! What the fuck!!!
@tveite My 3 grandkids are all growing in warp speed 🤦🏻♀️
@tveite It crazy when its your kid and they get bigger while your were at work.
@tveite @jennycolgan I hope you remember what it felt like to be told though, and keep your mouth shut (for kids over about 4 that is; the really young seem to get a kick out of it).
@tveite Yeah, usually it's just said out of genuine surprise/fascination.
