@Heret1cGay “Your history”?

@Heret1cGay I see you as doing that to be honest

@Heret1cGay You don’t know my sexuality, do you? Is gay the only option?

@Heret1cGay I’m sorry but trans people exist and have existed. I am done with this conversation. I appreciate this has nuance that is interesting but it’s clear you want to erase the T from LGBT. I’m not cool with that.

@Heret1cGay No I genuinely don’t care what you as an individual choose to think. Honestly. I am making this film because yes I think the context is trans people are being persecuted now in a way that gay people, particularly effeminate gay men were before. Show some solidarity.

@Heret1cGay But you can think of her as a gay man if you want. I don’t care. Not sure why you care. Quentin doesn’t care. She said so in the quote I gave you before and also she is very much dead and so doesn’t care what we say.

@Heret1cGay Um, she said she was transgender and would have liked to have been a woman, was a woman trapped in a man’s body, would have had “the operation” and if she had she “would have been happy.”

@Heret1cGay @RachelK01840150 “If you are reading this and are gay, think of me as one of your own even though you now know the truth. If it’s confusing for you, think how confusing it has been for me these past ninety years.”

@Heret1cGay @RachelK01840150 No need for a tug of war. She said so herself,“I can relate to gay men because I have more or less been one for so long in spite of my actual fate being that of a woman trapped in a man’s body. I refer to myself as homosexual without thinking because of how I have lived my life.”

@Heret1cGay @RachelK01840150 But I agree it’s tricky to use contemporary frameworks for historical experience. Homosexual as a concept didn’t exist before the C19. We have to balance avoiding presentism with not erasing past dissidence.

@Heret1cGay @RachelK01840150 Yes. I have recently switched to using she/her for Quentin but sometimes I forget out of habit. Quentin said this in other forms in the past too. See his interview with Mavis Nicholson in the 1970s for instance.

@Heret1cGay @RachelK01840150 The point is that Quentin described herself as “a woman trapped in a man’s body” and that if she could have “had the operation” she would have done so and have been happy. Not being able to have lived as a woman was her life’s only regret. That all sounds pretty transgender to me

@DaomiLove 💯% agree. This was always a paranoid delusion.

@vixoconn Exactly! And now people will feel emboldened to harass anyone who looks “manish”. Cool. That’s going to be great for women too.

Scratch a transphobe - find a racist, but first: The draft EHRC Statutory Code of Practice confirmed what many of us already knew: the UK is in violation of its obligations under the ECHR, resulting in trans people being unfairly discriminated against and in violation of their human rights. But recent events have also confirmed something even more disturbing - all the leading members of the gender-critical ideology movement have strong links to racism (specifically Islamophobia), Tommy Robinson, the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), and the far-right. Yep, scratch a transphobe - find a nasty racist But where to now for trans folk? Likely more court battles, and there are plenty of grounds to bring them. 1: Violation of the Gender Recognition Act 2004 “For All Purposes”: Frameworks or judgments such as FWS v Scottish Ministers that define “sex” exclusively as biological sex for Equality Act 2010 purposes effectively neutralise the GRA 2004’s “for all purposes” rule for GRC holders, undermining Parliament’s clear mandate and creating a fragmented, two‑tier legal status where GRC holders are recognised in their acquired sex for some purposes but not for equality law. 2: Incompatibility with Goodwin v United Kingdom (Article 8 ECHR): By recognising transgender people with GRCs as their acquired gender in some areas (e.g. marriage, pensions) but treating them as their birth sex in equality law, a biological‑sex‑only standard recreates the “intermediate zone” Goodwin held was unsustainable under Article 8. 3: Breach of the Human Rights Act 1998: Enforcing a biological‑sex‑only standard in equality law is, on this analysis, incompatible with the duties in the Human Rights Act 1998: Section 3 (to interpret legislation compatibly with Convention rights where possible) and Section 6 (for courts and other public authorities not to act incompatibly with those rights). 4: Structural Conflict with Privacy Protections (GRA Section 22): Applying a biological‑sex‑only standard in practice incentivises or requires enquiries into who holds a GRC, creating functional incoherence and structural tension with the GRA 2004 Section 22 privacy offence, which assumes GRC holders will ordinarily be treated as their acquired sex. In short, the present legal confusion can only be resolved in one of two ways: either Parliament clarifies that GRC holders are to be recognised in their acquired sex under the Equality Act (as before FWS), or the courts are asked to declare the FWS v Scottish Ministers interpretation is incompatible with other legislation.

This is so stupid. This is not making anyone safer it’s only making trans people more unsafe. The problem is horrible cis men not trans people!

So let me get this straight. If I as a cis man wanted to assault a woman in a restroom, I could now just claim I’m actually a biological woman who looks like a man because I have transitioned and go assault that woman, right? Also, since when was this a barrier for me anyway?

What kind of society have I just become a citizen of? This is disgraceful, disgusting and horrific. Trans women are women trans men are men. Non-binary people exist as to intersex people. None of this makes woman safer. They weren’t in danger anyway.
