The slaves of the world draped in affluence Written by PenAbdul They stay up They wake up They team up They scheme They devise They execute You would think it a meditation upon the everlasting home Alas! It is to secure the quick-passing They are witnesses to the pages of history Yet they learn nothing from its scrolls Blinded by the present Driven by their myopic view of the world Dragged into the abyss of destruction The mention of God is a fairytale to them Morality, to them, is for the poor Immorality drags the world to their feet The world of illusion Hereafter, you dare not mention it It is, to them, opium of the poor and the weak They go to the mosque and church not out of belief but to appease society Their god is money Quick-passing, it is That is why history is full of lessons; for men of understanding.

He did not just send condolences. He was present. On Tuesday, 16 June 2026, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM traveled to Zamfara State, not for a conference or press briefing, but to honor three fallen officers in prayer. He stood with grieving families, officers, and members of the public at the Salat al-Janazah, the Islamic funeral prayer, honoring three police officers who lost their lives confronting banditry in Zamfara State. Three officers. Three families forever changed. Three names the Nigeria Police Force will always remember. The IGP addressed the officers who remain, still standing, serving, and grieving, and delivered a message in person: Their sacrifice will never be forgotten, nor will it be in vain. Operations will continue. Criminal networks will be pursued. Every act of banditry will be met with increased resolve. He commended the Zamfara State Command for recent operational successes, including arrests, explosive recoveries, kidnap rescues, and decisive action against armed bandits, achievements made under extremely dangerous conditions. He assured officers that welfare, logistics, and operational support will be improved. He left them with a charge: the greatest tribute to the fallen is to complete the work they began. To the families of the three officers: your loved ones answered the call. Nigeria will not forget.

This had never happened before at Force Headquarters. Not in this way, and not with this purpose. Muslim officers broke their Ramadan fast while Christian officers observed Lent. They sat together at one table, under one roof, all serving the same nation. Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, hosted the first Interfaith Iftar and Lent Dinner in the history of the Nigeria Police Force. The event was warm, thoughtful, and full of meaning. This was not by chance. It was intentional. The IGP showed last night that a police force divided by religion cannot protect a nation united by citizenship. Before being Muslim or Christian, each officer is a policeman. Before observing Ramadan or Lent, each one wears a uniform that represents every Nigerian. At the event, the IGP pointed out that Ramadan and Lent, though different, share the same foundation: reflection, sacrifice, selflessness, and service. These are the values every officer promises to uphold. No faith was put above another, and no tradition was left out. Every officer felt included. The IGP also told Nigerians that security has been improved in every state. There are more officers on duty, better surveillance, and proactive steps to keep everyone safe during the festive season. When the force is united, it can protect the public more effectively. In this workplace, faith does not divide people; it brings them together. Last night, that unity was clear, with many shared values, a common mission, and a table where everyone had a place. This is what inclusive leadership is. This is what it means to have a united force. Ramadan Kareem. Wishing everyone a blessed Lenten season.

Nigeria is the only country where a 7 year old can be arraigned in court, but a 17 year old isn’t allowed to sit for JAMB exams. Madness.

I have watched the three episodes of BBC's documentary on the late TB Joshua; it was quite a revelation. What stands out for me is the commendable approach of my northern and Muslim brothers, who refrained from framing the documentary as an issue about southerners or making it a
