Also logically Bernardo’s penalty was the right thing to do. Won’t criticise him for going down the middle. Smart choice but lacked deceit. However really surprised Lunin stood in the middle. Never see GKs do that especially on such a high pressure kick. Fair play Lunin.
@umirf1 Yep, there was no 'feint' element to it or disguise. These things can look magical when they go right and awful when they don't.
@umirf1 I said this and everyone is making it about Bernardo’s miss instead of the fact the keeper wasn’t supposed to stand still esp with the pressure of the penalty
@umirf1 I think probably Lunin saw Martinez clip of telling his players to go down the middle after the opposition misses and decided to just do the reverse and his gamble paid off
@umirf1 When the Argentines revealed the idea of taking the kick (after the opponent misses) through the middle most goalies now wait for the ball in the middle after their team miss. I've seen two saves since that in two tournaments including today's UCL game
@umirf1 would've been the right decision if it wasn't SO predictable, possibly the worst possible decision considering he didn't show any intent to put it elsewhere
@umirf1 Mendy once did that against Aguero's Peneka in a cup game.
@umirf1 The last penalty Bernardo took in a shoutout was against Chelsea, down the middle. There’s a lot wrong with that penalty. DISCLAIMER: He may have taken one in the Super Cup, cba to check
