CONVICTED: A former Ohio doctor was convicted of naturalization fraud after lying under oath on his citizenship application and during his USCIS interview. In 2021, Yousif Abdulraouf Alhallaq pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the 2014 poisoning of his pregnant girlfriend’s oatmeal with an abortion drug without her knowledge, causing serious physical harm to her and her unborn child. He then lied about whether he had intentionally hurt someone or committed an offense when he applied for naturalization in 2017 and again during his naturalization interview in 2018. USCIS partnered with @TheJusticeDept on filing denaturalization actions against 40 criminals accused of felonies, including acting as an agent for a foreign government, committing voluntary manslaughter, and aggravated sodomy of an individual with special needs. A naturalized U.S. citizen who illegally obtained naturalization by hiding important facts or lying will have their citizenship revoked and certificate of naturalization canceled. uscis.gov/newsroom/news-…

USCIS played a critical role in bringing an international alien smuggling and money laundering conspiracy to justice. A federal jury convicted Lazaro Alain Cabrera-Rodriguez for his role in a scheme that facilitated the unlawful entry of thousands of Cuban nationals into the United States. The organization used false identities and travel documents to smuggle aliens into the U.S. and advertised their bogus visa services scheme on social media to profit from this illegal activity. USCIS worked with @DHSgov, @ICEgov, and @CBP to expose and disrupt the network. Cabrera-Rodriguez faces up to 20 years in federal prison at sentencing. uscis.gov/newsroom/news-…

Alla Nowowiejski, a Houston area immigration attorney, has been charged with mail fraud and false statements. According to the indictment, Nowowiejski accepted payments from clients for work visa applications that she never filed or only filed in part.
