I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it. The seeds Ruben Amorim has planted will only become visible with time. He’s done the hardest thing you can ask of a manager, and whoever follows him will inherit a far easier job because of it. Not everyone will see or understand that, but that’s their problem.

- Amorim made these players train with high intensity. - Carrick shortened training sessions and dropped the intensity. - Amorim got rid of Rashford and Garnacho because of discipline. He showed players their place and tried to bring standards back. - Carrick brought Rashford back and starts him EVERY SINGLE GAME despite everything that happened. - Amorim raised the physicality and fitness levels of these players. - Carrick didn’t even make them run in pre-season and these players are running less than literally EVERY opponent. Michael Carrick has DESTROYED literally every bit of progress made over the last 2 years. I was a big advocate for him getting the permanent job, but man… WHAT A WASTE OF EVERYONE’S TIME.

Got rid of Garnacho. Got rid of Antony. Sent Rashford and Sancho on loan Got rid of Højlund. Sent Onana on loan Signed Matheus Cunha. Signed Bryan Mbeumo. Signed Benjamin Šeško. Unlocked the best version of Amad Diallo. Called out Jason Wilcox. Called out the board. Destroyed player power. Raised standards. But them top reds still found a reason to turn on him. He was the closest we ever got to a turnaround. But they beheaded him and shattered everything he had built.

Big accounts will be scared to say this but I'm going to say it; Carrick is NOT the man to take Man Utd back to the very top. He did a fantastic job steadying the ship last season, but any serious club would've thanked him, wished him well, and stuck with the plan of getting a top-level manager to take it up from there. Before positive toxic fans start saying it's just 5 games into the season, please know that I said this last season before Carrick was given the job permanently. He's a club legend whom we all love, but we must put sentiments aside and speak the truth which is that he is not the man. The job is obviously bigger than him. This shite is on INEOS for taking the cheaper option to save cash instead of getting a top manager.

While the whole fanbase was talking about how the formation and system were the problem, I was talking about these players’ quality, mentality and work rate. I was called an ‘Amorimsexual’ and all sorts of names. I was told I was tweeting like that for engagement and rage bait. So how’s it going now? You’re free of the inverting CB. You’re free of the back 3. Why is the same shit happening again? Why does the same cycle keep repeating itself? Or maybe it’s time to finally realise that the same story will repeat itself with every manager and under every system, UNLESS THE QUALITY OF THIS SQUAD CHANGES.

During his time at Manchester United, Ruben Amorim had a STRICT policy of demanding players to show up the day after a fixture, whether a loss, win or draw. This remained his standard practice throughout his time at the club. After most of the matches, the players who played the majority of the match did light, low-intensity recovery work to look after their bodies. WHILE Anyone who played fewer than 45 minutes was put through a full, intense training session to keep their fitness levels up. Incase you’re wondering why Rashford and Co didn’t like like Amorim, this is a solid reason.

Imagine Ruben Amorim was still here. Harry Maguire probably never gets that new contract. Luke Shaw is almost certainly on the bomb squad alongside Zirkzee, Dalot and several others who have been dragging this club backwards for years. Rashford? He probably never makes it back into that dressing room. And that’s the biggest difference. Amorim was actually trying to break the cycle. Get rid of the players who had failed, underperformed, or simply become part of the culture that keeps dragging United back to mediocrity. Then replace them with players who fit the football, the intensity and the direction of the project. By now, with another few quality signings, we should be walking into the Champions League with opponents genuinely worried about facing Manchester United. Instead, we’ve become a shock factor for completely different reasons. We don’t scare teams anymore. We shock them because they can’t believe how far this club has fallen. The squad should be stabilising. The football should be stabilising. The standards should be stabilising. Instead, the chaos is only starting to reveal itself. Manchester United have spent years postponing the painful decisions, protecting players, recycling the same problems and calling it “building.” Now look at us. A club that once dictated the market is fighting to escape mid-table mediocrity. Man United hasn’t just lost its fear factor. We’ve become a mid-table club with a giant name.

Nobody is pretending everything was perfect under Amorim. But you could at least see what he was trying to build… intensity, discipline, fitness, work rate, structure and clear principles in and out of possession. Even when the results weren’t there, there was an obvious standard he wanted from the team. Right now under Carrick, I’m struggling to see those same demands. That’s the worrying part.

I’ll keep saying it… if Rúben Amorim was still at United, we’d be much further along by now. For the first time in years, you could actually see a modern footballing idea. In possession: patterns, rotations, structure. Out of possession: pressing triggers, aggression, organisation. It wasn’t perfect, but there was an identity. I’d take that over this aimless, end-to-end kick-and-rush football every single day.

The fact we are still mourning his exit tells you how massive a mistake it was and an elite manager he is.

They mocked Amorim for using his tactical board, but he actually inspired a comeback. Meanwhile, Michael Carrick couldn’t even set up a system to stop newly promoted Hull City from embarrassing him before halftime. Tactical genius vs PE Teacher. 😭

Coaching career aside, he’s an intelligent human being. He gives you a true, detailed analysis of how he sees things without mincing words. He’s got a really friendly personality too, and I think that’s why I connect with him.
