8/2 - Skinny-dipping #sheith #sheithinsummer @SheithInSummer The pool has a curfew, so they’re sneaking out to the beach, which is arguably more dangerous than the pool. The shore is well lit enough, making the ocean look black and unfathomably deep.
Unfortunately, it’s enough light pollution that they can’t see the stars out. It doesn’t take away from the intimacy of the scene, though. No one is around the sandy strip. Beach chairs have been folded and umbrellas closed.
The night breeze is refreshing without being chilly, and Shiro’s hand is warm in his.
For a while, they walk the shore, holding their sandals on one hand and each other with the other. The listen to the sounds, breathe the cool, briny air in, hold it before letting it out. Neither of them grew up near the beach, and so the sea is always a welcome novelty.
Keith lets go of Shiro’s hand to pick up some interesting shells and bits of natural marble smoothed by years of being smashed by the waves. Conversation creeps back to them eventually, but it’s hushed, mundane.
Somehow, they reach the end of the shore line where more interesting things have collected by the side of mossy boulders - hermit crabs moving houses, a smashed beer bottle with a truly old label, a disintegrating condom (gross).
Keith straightens up from his crouch to realize Shiro isn’t beside him. He looks around to find the man peeling out of his clothes, clearly with the intent to swim in nothing but his birthday suit.
“Shiro!” Keith whisper screams, glancing at the hotels overlooking the ocean, as if anyone could see them. “What are you doing?!”
“Going for a swim!” The man is completely naked now, ethereal in the moonlight. “C’mon!” “It’s cold!” Keith protests, even though his hands are already removing his shorts. He’s gonna have a wonderful time cleaning sand out from where the sun don’t shine.
He wades in after Shiro, helplessly drawn. They settle into the black water, wiggling and giggling. Shiro has no qualms pressing himself against Keith, and Keith allows himself to be held. “Don’t worry baby, I’ll keep you warm.”
There’s something bone deep about the peace sharing a night like this brings, like the passage of time will disturb it. In between salty kisses and stinging eyes, Keith hopes that the sun doesn’t rise. - end! -
