For a company that once had a motto - Don't be evil, Google seems to be doing all things evil at this point. STAGE app has been delisted from the Google Playstore today on notice of a couple of hours, just because we refused to give in to their monopolistic policy of allowing only their billing system inside the app. All of us have read about how East India Company took over our country about 400 years ago, this is how it must have felt when it was happening (and probably 100x more). Google didn't even care about a direct order from CCI that categorically told them to not restrict the developers from using third party billing systems. The message is loud and clear - we are too big for you and the laws of this country don't apply to us. Our honorable PM @narendramodi who puts so much effort in making Digital India such a big success, what is the point if these Digital East India Companies like Google just take over and kill the Indian startup ecosystem like this. 100s of millions of Indians won't be able to use their favourite apps because of this. 10lac+ new people who download STAGE every month to consume content in their own dialects, will be deprived of it because of what Google did today. I urge the govt to intervene and save 100s of companies which are impacted and will be killed over night if this is not taken care of. We need to act now. We need the Indian govt to act now. If not now, when? If not them, who? #EvilGoogle

@vinaykrsinghal Vinay, valid point. Then why don't the Indian startup ecosystem & the apps delisted create a new Play Store. U have big names Paytm, info edge etc all billion $, everytime bringing nationalism, won't it effect the way it will hinder founders like u to take/create a new pathway?
@vinaykrsinghal Are we looking for PhonePe store? Is that ready?
@vinaykrsinghal I don’t understand why Google would spend so much time and effort in building such a massive distribution and give it away for free? 😅 Why are we expecting them to do that? Isn’t that the whole point of capitalism?
@vinaykrsinghal I agree it's not fair but wasn't it obvious that the app would get delisted if you don't follow playstore's policies?
