@KindredSnow Thanks @KindredSnow ! Really appreciate the support ❤️
New #JQCshow Episode! Hear the award-winning Cinematographer @verlaan from @visinc talk about how he worked with @TheRomanNick & @regularcars to create the Westfalia #RCR 2020 Special. He talks about how he got into cars, videography, & his visual style. youtu.be/ek0U7IOA3kg
On behalf of @regularcars, @verlaan and @visinc, I'm proud to announce that our Westfalia review is an official selection for the @RedRoseFilmFest this November AND a nominee for Best Documentary Short at the @MotorFilmAwards! To say this is an honor would be an understatement.
Proud to announce that our @regularcars Vanagon Westfalia review is an official selection for the Hudson Valley Film Fest at the @WarwickDrivein in NY this August. Thank you to @verlaan and @visinc for making this a reality, along with everyone who's watched RCR over the years.
Another studio side-project: I fell in love with the prop TV from @regularcars, so paid a little extra to keep the rental. Got it working today, and now it’s looping the @visinc reels in our lobby! I love that outdated 55-year-old tech still works and has a use today!
Here’s the repositioned lighting for the interiors. We lowered one of the 1.2k units and pushed it through a 4x4’ diffusion for a low, frontal key. Focus came from a few medium-sized LED fixtures mounted to the van’s ceiling. Thanks to Mazai Photography for the shots! /thread
It‘s longer to setup, but once running a gimbal with wireless video and FIZ (focus-iris-zoom) you definitely regain the lost time! Can be mounted to job/dolly/car/handheld in 2 min For our team, a big part of this project was embracing new tech, and experimenting with workflows.
Here are some BTS photos from the RCR 2020 Special. We’ll be sharing photos here as we can, using the thread feature to divide by location / theme. First up: a look at the studio setups! (cc: @regularcars @TheRomanNick, even though you were back in PA by this time) #film #bts
Dear @MrJamesMay, here is a love letter to the T3 Westfalia and automotive nostalgia that I think you’ll enjoy: youtu.be/Nb7eMKf497g. I made the short film with @regularcars & @TheRomanNick. It’s a car review, but with social context, literary theory, and a dash of weird.
@ChristianWorner @regularcars @TheSmokingTire @TheRomanNick Maybe if there’s enough demand? We have no current plans to print & sell though.
Official “movie poster” for the RCR 2020 Special! Premiering tomorrow night, just before we hop on @TheSmokingTire podcast to chat cars & film! We commissioned the illustration from artist Grayden Laing, who was also crew & acted in this episode CC: @regularcars @TheRomanNick
1989 VW Westfalia - Almost Like Home The @regularcars special episode is dropping April 14! Here’s our first promo poster, and the teaser-trailer is on YouTube now: youtube.com/watch?v=dwvy-f… We’ll be posting BTS and more here over the next week. (CC: @TheRomanNick @verlaan)
@dvshopca I saw @PanicandChaos’ tweet about not getting your usual lattes... figured my literally zero-traffic studio would be safe enough 🤷♂️
@dvshopca Well, there goes your invite over for a nice latte :(
Join us tonight at 9PM eastern / 6PM pacific for the season finale of Survivor Stories - our first ever YouTube Premiere! Our participant Zoe (@republicofyoga) and director-cinematographer @verlaan will be in the live chat to hang out! youtu.be/gs40AOmRP8s
Now is a good time to take care of media management & backups. @dvshopca carries some great options, they have fair prices and knowledgeable staff to help you choose the right drive. They also offer shipping and affordable intracity courier options so you can stay in! #shoplocal
