An impressive cold front last night left quite the impression here at UBC, with our wx station recording a significant temperature drop, sustained winds up to 50 km/h and wind gusts up to 80 km/h! 🌬️🍃 Yesterday also saw upwards of 33 mm accumulated precipitation 🌧️

According to CIFFC.ca, more than 230 wildfires are burning in The Northwest Territories. Our #smoke forecast sees these fires and the massive amounts of emissions they produce. It's forecasted to spread south, and cross the border into the US in the next two days.

Vancouver today is experiencing elevated air pollution due to forest fire smoke. Local PM2.5 Particle concentrations can be seen using map.purpleair.com's map, and we see a notable increase with our very own AQ sensor on the UBC rooftop.
