인구의 10%가 병신이라도 두 병신이 만날 확률은 0.1 x 0.1 = 0.01, 1%에 불과하기 때문이다. 그러므로 병신성의 표출을 기준으로 병신을 확인하는 것은 굉장히 많은 병신들을 놓치게 된다.

병신성은 병신과 병신이 만날때 표출 된다. 병신과 일반인, 일반인과 일반인과의 왕래에서는 병신성의 표출을 목격할 수 없다. 세상에 병신이 흔하지만 병신성을 쉽게 볼 수 없는 이유는 이 때문이다.

CNBC의 범죄 다큐 American Greed에 자주 나오는 폰지사기범은 지인을 대상으로 하거나 수십년간 명예를 쌓아 오다가 한번 사기를 치는 식이다. 따라서 지인 중에 누가 병신인지 아는 것은 매우 중요하다. 내가 투자를 해달라고 하면 무시하라.

과대망상과 폰지사기는 궤를 함께 한다. 일종의 병신 세트 메뉴이다. 역사에서 워낙 자주 반복 되다 보니 당하는 놈도 병신이라는 인식도 흔하다.

폰지사기는 주로 투자 사기를 일컫지만 업무를 이용한 폰지사기도 가능하다. 주어진 일보다 더 중요한 일이 있고 그곳에 시간을 보내야 한다고 주장한다. 그리고 계속 한 단계씩 좀 더 복잡한 업무로 승격시키는 것이다.

과대망상(delusion of grandeur)은 병신 필수요소 중 하나이다. 일을 해낼 역량이 없지만 중요하지 않기 때문에 혹은 의욕이 없기 때문에 할 수 없다고 말한다. 혹은 그보다 더 중요한 (예를 들어 신에게 기도하는) 일을 했다고 한다.

스타트업은 자본이 없는 자를 위한 마약과 같다. 월급으로 큰 돈 받을 수 있는 사람들이 밤 새워 가며 일하고 돈도 적게 받으면서 행복하다고 말한다. 심지어 실패하더라도 많은 것을 배웠고 또 같은 일을 하겠다고 한다. 자본가에게는 최고의 투자처이다.
