Some quick 2022 fantasy football takes for those of you with big drafts this weekend. Names to target, guys or entire teams I'm avoiding, position by strategy, league winner upside, "my guys," etc. THREAD 1/
You want a piece of this Vikings O w/ Kevin O'Connell and Bears/Lions maybe worst two D. Justin Jefferson my #1 overall pick & projected leader in yds/rec. Dalvin Cook top 3, safe stud in plain sight, just get Mattison. Cousins, Thielen fringe top 10 plays and good values.
Travis Kelce top 5 value and easy first rounder. The Chiefs didn't actually lose their top receiver -- it's him, and he should post career highs if healthy. Kelce would be my #4 *receiver* and he dwarfs all other tight ends in my projections by 35% + over TE2.
Lamar Jackson the only top QB I'd target. Projects even with Josh Allen at QB1. Still had the rushing yards last year and added big passing volume. Could approach his MVP numbers. Trey Lance is the late QB target. My QB5. Running threat + solid pass volume + Shanahan efficiency.
I take Lamar if he falls in the 5th or later and I can afford it. Otherwise QB is easy. Wait awhile, then grab Lance plus one of the safe values later: Russ, Brady, Dak, or Kirk. Fade Burrow, Kyler, Rodgers, Stafford, just not worth the investment with so many good options.
If I don't get Kelce (anywhere after top 7), Dalton Schultz is my target. Think he sees big volume with Amari Cooper gone and Dallas pass-heavy. Have him about equal to Mark Andrews at TE2 so an easy value and prime target. Otherwise wait til the end, grab Robert Tonyan or etc
Guy I want on every fantasy team in 2022: Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown Last 6g last fall under new OC proj to 145/1587/14 over full season, 8+ rec all 6. Clear top 5 WR upside if massive targets continue, looks wildly underpriced with still not much competition in Detroit.
Other WRs to target: Chris Godwin- basically a free top 10 WR, just gotta find a fill-in for a month during weeks with no byes Courtland Sutton- looks like Wilson's new DK Metcalf, my WR8 DJ Moore- huge target share in pass-heavy McAdoo system, top 10 guy even with low TDs
I'm avoiding everything attached to Dolphins or Raiders pass games. New coaches skew run-heavy, neither QB has good TD rate, just not enough volume for these prices. Hard pass on Tyreek Hill, Davante Adams, Jaylen Waddle, Tua, Carr, Gesicki, Renfrow, Waller, all of em.
Other WRs I'll avoid: CeeDee- outside my top 20 WRs, not a TD threat, don't see the fantasy hype, get Schultz AJ Brown- new team, unknown role, super run heavy Deebo- basically a RB, injury risk, more downside than upside Lockett, Amari- bad QBs, low upside, run heavy teams
My top early RB targets: Alvin Kamara & Saquon Barkley Kamara star production, suspension seems off, heavy volume, rec's, what's not to like? top 3-5 guy at discount ADP Saquon looks healthy, Giants OL improving, Daboll will put his best weapon in position to succeed, my RB5
@wheatonbrando Outside top 20 WR for Lamb?? Hard to see that considering he was a top 20 WR as a 21 year old rookie with Dak missing 2/3 of the season
