Winternitz Building for a Post Quantum Future.
Winternitz Development Update : October 23, 2026
Building towards a more secure, private, and post quantum ready wallet infrastructure.
Today, we're sharing a summary of the development milestones completed on October 22, as we continue strengthening the Winternitz ecosystem ahead of broader testing and security review.
Key Development Highlights
01. Wallet Dashboard Improvements
Refined network switching, integrated official blockchain logos, and improved responsive layouts for a more consistent experience across devices.
02. Unified Privacy Workspace
Consolidated privacy-related functionality into a single, more intuitive dashboard experience.
03. Independent Vault Management
Introduced independent vault creation with separate cryptographic keys, passwords, and backups, alongside dedicated Send and Receive functionality for each account.
04. WOTS-Authorised Vault Profiles
Implemented locally validated vault profiles supporting WOTS-based authorisation, revision hashes, and permanent profile freezing.
05. Verification & Recovery
Expanded contract inspection, signing-key state verification, privacy-preserving diagnostic reports, and backup freshness checks.
06. Post-Quantum Infrastructure
Advanced experimental XMSS message signing and local integration of an ERC-7579 WOTS validator module, progressing towards more flexible post-quantum account security.
07. Gas Sponsorship Infrastructure
Implemented and successfully tested local ETH gas sponsorship infrastructure to support future improvements in transaction accessibility.
08. Independent Security Audit Preparation
Expanded and refined the proposed technical review scope for Hacken, covering key components of the Winternitz security architecture.
Testing & Validation
Our latest development cycle successfully passed automated tests and production build checks, including 24 vault-specific browser checks.
These results represent local development validation, not independent security certification.
What's Next?
Our upcoming priorities include public deployment of vault profiles, funded mainnet acceptance testing, ERC-8004 identity integration, token metadata support, USDG-based transaction fees, and an independent security audit.
Winternitz Vault from independent keys to onchain execution.
Each vault uses its own WOTS keys, encrypted local storage, and a dedicated signing journal. Transactions are reviewed, signed, and saved before submission. Onchain validation advances the account’s key state, while confirmation checks the actual transaction outcome.
Quantum Computer Matters.
Recent security incidents across the crypto industry have reminded us of one thing: digital asset security cannot be taken for granted.
Today's exploits are not necessarily quantum-related. But they expose a broader reality: security threats continue to evolve, and our infrastructure must evolve with them.
Quantum computing introduces another long-term challenge to the cryptographic foundations of blockchain technology.
At Winternitz, we're exploring hash-based signatures, post-quantum authentication, and secure key rotation to help build a practical path towards quantum readiness.
We're not waiting for quantum threats to become a reality before exploring solutions.
Security is not just about protecting what we have today. It's about preparing for what comes next.
The future of wallet security starts with the work we do today.

Official Statement from Winternitz Regarding the $WTZ Security Flag
To our community, supporters, and $WTZ holders,
First and foremost, we would like to sincerely apologise to everyone who was affected by the recent events surrounding $WTZ.
During a period when our project was gaining momentum, $WTZ was unexpectedly flagged by Blockaid. This raised concerns across the community and coincided with a significant decline in the token's market price.
We understand the frustration, uncertainty, and financial impact this situation may have caused, particularly for those who have supported Winternitz from the beginning.
There is a possibility that the flag was triggered by external reports submitted to Blockaid. However, we cannot independently confirm what initiated the flag, and we do not wish to make accusations or assign blame.
Today, we received official confirmation from the Blockaid Security Team.
Following their investigation, Blockaid confirmed that the flagging of $WTZ was incorrect and that its status has been updated accordingly.
We appreciate Blockaid's professionalism, their willingness to review our appeal, and their commitment to maintaining security standards across the ecosystem.
To our holders and investors: we are truly sorry for the disruption and uncertainty this situation has caused.
As a team, we take our responsibility to this community seriously. While market movements are beyond our direct control, transparency, communication, and continued development remain our priorities.
This incident will not change our long-term commitment to Winternitz.
We will continue building our post-quantum wallet infrastructure, progressing with testnet development, preparing for independent security audits, and working towards a more secure and reliable ecosystem.
We are not here to point fingers. We are here to build meaningful technology and earn trust through consistent progress.
The official clarification is now received. Our focus returns entirely to development.
Thank you to everyone who stood by Winternitz during this challenging period.
We keep building. We keep improving. We move forward together.
— The Winternitz Team
