@hychen 我体验下来感觉 Kosmik 在功能、流畅度和 affordance 上都不算出色。文字比不过 Hepta、类 Roam，视觉又比不过 Figma、Muse 等等。境地比较尴尬。

@codexeditor @shaneg_nz I have the same question. If I can just refer to what I want with ((, then what’s the use case of [[? Or what can I do with [[ that can’t be replaced by ((?

@codexeditor I myself would like 5-10% extra spacing to every Chinese font if I can though. Makes everything so much better.

@codexeditor Careful giving that power to users though. While not as dramatic as stretching the font, changing spacing could potentially make a designer cry too.😉

@codexeditor @RoamFm @dr_kvj @kosmik_app A padawan will need and one day become a master though. Macster?

@codexeditor This would be great but I’m very pessimistic about anything that involves public space due to censorship and other causes of data loss. If something needs to be public, it mustn’t be centralised, and each individual should have the access to a full copy of data locally.

@kosmik_app @dr_kvj @RobertHaisfield Cool. I was going to ask if you would distribute outside App Store on Mac. How may I sign up for beta?

@kosmik_app @dr_kvj @RobertHaisfield Oh I’m super interested. Is it via TestFlight?

@dr_kvj @RobertHaisfield @kosmik_app Wasn’t Kosmik already available in App Store? Or are you talking about a completely different version? (I haven’t downloaded the current one though as I’d have to switch to US store and Apple hasn’t made account switching easy.)

@jordanmoore 1. I’d take this rumour with a grain of salt since it also mentions bringing back other IO ports which is just unlikely in any sense. 2. Apple protectively files a lot of patents that never come to real products.

@dr_kvj @codexeditor @NickMilo I’m thinking specifically when you’re learning a new language for example, extensive reading and general exposure can be as or more important than intensive reading.

@dr_kvj @codexeditor @NickMilo Yes, for material in a vertical field you already know well, it makes more sense to work it out once and for all. But for interdisciplinary or more liberal purpose, it’s often enough to just skim, get a general idea, and come back when something triggers you to.

@dr_kvj @codexeditor @NickMilo Something to do with tacit memory I guess. Same way as we remember the texture, smell, typography of a page better than the its content.

@dr_kvj @codexeditor @NickMilo But if you do revisit that material, I’ve found that having some circles drawn, even totally irrelevant to the text will siginificantly reduce the time to re-familiarise it or locate specific info. It’s almost like the circle is a QR code to your previous experience.

@codexeditor @dr_kvj @NickMilo Sometimes it's just too costly (time, attention span…) to do those "follow-ups" even if one realises said translation doesn't happen automatically, hence the "mindless annotation". It's amolst like defining a variable and dropping it for not having enough RAM.

@codexeditor @dr_kvj @NickMilo …But if a software or the person drawing the circle himself is to recognise his intention and facilitate some follow-ups later things would be different.
