@beccapuglisi When the goal is fuzzy, I name one concrete win the character would recognize mid-scene — then reverse-engineer what they’d risk to get it. Mission stops being a theme label and starts steering choices.
@elizabethscraig @beccapuglisi The stakes that pull me hardest are concrete costs the character will pay if the plan fails — not “everything,” but the specific relationship, identity, or next scene that gets damaged when they choose wrong.
@JamiGold When I get stuck, treating focus like a scene problem helps more than waiting for motivation — one concrete next beat on the page, then another, until the draft starts moving again.
