I just have read a critic saying "Up" has a simple and easy script... alright, take a pen and write something as simple as "Up". I dare you.
Writers don't usually talk about their working style, so I hope you found it useful. But it's just my stile. Do whatever you want.
and then polish it through lots of drafts. That's it. Although it varies from project to project (and lot's of times I go back and forth)
... I don't do treatments. they're only useful for the producer, so I jump directly to the first draft, trying to get it as fast as I can...
... after that, I write a "good synopsis", which is the synopsis I'm showing to the producers (more involved with selling than writing)...
... (digressing: "step outline" is the most important step when writing a sript. When you have a good one, you're aiming to success)...
... then, a one line step outline (all scenes, with no info, just a line, and some of them are missing), then a proper step outline...
My work process: bunch of notes and drawings (true), storyline, "previous synopsis"-no need to be good, only for my eyes, see what I need...
Okay, work process in scripts for most people follow this steps: storyline, synopsis, step outline, treatment, script.

Joke structure: Set up - twist - joke. Scare structure: Set up - twist - fright. That's why most comedy writers I know love horror films.
