Apparently there was an opportunity get onto Medicare, but he never received the required notice. He was told on the phone that there was no recourse, although I believe failure to notify provided a legitimate exception for appeal.

The most charitable interpretation I come up with is that OPM computer systems botched the 2025 rollover when transitioning many to Medicare, but don't have the manpower resources to fix the problems by hand. This tracks with the lack of help during the sign-up period.

What's going on at OPM? My father-in-law had his Postal Service Health Benefits cancelled without notice. PSHB says he should be covered The thing is, he is not eligible for Medicare, is 87 without health care coverage, and cannot get response from OPM.

Log4j, cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvenam… aren’t Java and Apache supposed to be among the better tools out there. Java was designed from the ground up as a networking language. I think I hear Weinberg’s woodpecker.

Unit test is a very low bar and seldom get above 40% effective in finding software issues. DO178 for avionics is much better, extraordinarily expensive, and requires the source to build the test cases. Unit tests to not catch interaction effects.
