If the #beast (s) are in fact a metaphor for climate change that is destructive and slowly approaches, that last scene means that even one young person standing up for what's right can make a difference

There is definitely a magical connection between her father and the #beast (s). as he begins to fail, they finally reach the town.

Realism aspect: even though seawater is threatening their life and home, they still make time to play in it #beast

Are the dangerous boars we see approaching slowly but aren't stopping, and some people are unaware of them, a metaphor for climate change that is ruining their area? #beast

They want her to know how to open a crab without silverware bc they know that if they die, she won't have any #beast

Up to this point, I think the magic that we've had hints of actually makes the moral of the story (if it is indeed about how climate change hurts the poor) weaker because it makes this movie look like fiction #beast

Did she do that? If so, and it is causing the flooding, that's definitely magical #beast

So in school they're learning about the day that they get flooded because of the rich people building a levy above them, and they're calling it the end of the world #beast

Definitely a critique of social class, because the powerful people in the city cut the poor area off by building a levy, left them in the "wild," and they're homes are going to be destroyed #beast

Wouldn't it have been much more fun if we could hear the monster giving his point of view as to why he's behaved this way? I disagree with Whale limiting him to grunts and groans #FrankenUni

If Henry is going to be shown as a Hero in the fight against the Monster, they should have made him look heroic earlier in the movie too #FrankenUni

Instead of inspiring critical thought about the role of society in the making of a monster, the movie seems to be just functioning as a horror film meant to frighten audiences #FrankenUni

Because Henry cares for the monster in this version, this attack is unprovoked and really all nature, no nurture #FrankenUni

This is like early in the book-He's doing stuff just because he dosn't know that it's wrong. Because the girl was so innocent, though, in the context of the movie, it makes him seem even more like a monster #FrankenUni

That cat is not having a good time

This is the first time we can feel a little sympathy for Henry, because he regrets not thinking of Elizabeth during his work. If they were going to make Henry the villain, they should have gone all in and not included any sympathetic qualities #FrankenUni

Fritz is like society in the book: Attacking the monster just because he is afraid of how it looks, so the monster killed him, which he kinda had coming.
