There’s something profound about watching someone reach the absolute limit of what their body can endure, yet refuse to surrender. At that point, it’s no longer about winning or proving anything to anyone. It’s about a promise made to yourself when you still had the strength to make it. She crossed that finish line on willpower alone.

Somewhere between having an idea and building a company, you realize how much you’re actually risking to make it real.

Nobody talks enough about the uncertainty between having a vision and actually bringing it to life. Some days you’re making progress. Other days you’re questioning everything. The hardest part isn’t starting. It’s continuing when the results haven’t caught up with your ambition.

I’ve noticed that the people with the strongest opinions about what can’t be done are rarely the ones attempting it. Building is difficult. Criticism is cheap. I’d rather fail trying to build something meaningful than spend my life explaining why someone else’s ambition won’t work.

Failure doesn’t scare me nearly as much as the thought of looking back one day and realizing I never gave my ambitions everything I had.

Whatever happens with Lagos Life, I think we should appreciate what this represents. A Nigerian developer built something that got people talking, playing and inspiring others to build. We need more young Nigerians experimenting with technology at this level.

You probably don’t know XQ yet. That’s alright. We’re still building.

I’m not building EVE to compete for a small percentage of Nigeria’s fintech market. I’m building it because I believe the entire way people interact with technology is about to change. That’s a much bigger ambition.

I have a ridiculous amount of confidence in what we’re building with EVE. Not because we’ve figured everything out. But because I think we’re asking a question most apps aren’t even trying to answer.

I’ve been thinking a lot about why we still interact with technology the way we did 15 years ago. Different apps. Different interfaces. Endless navigation. I think there’s a fundamentally better way. We’re building it.

I want to see a Nigeria where technology is not just something we consume. It’s something we use to organize society, improve productivity and build reliable systems. That’s the kind of technological revolution worth building.

I don’t think Nigeria’s biggest problem is a lack of technology. I think our bigger problem is how poorly we implement the technology we already have. Here’s why 🧵

We shouldn’t measure Nigeria’s technological progress only by how many apps we launch or how much startup funding we raise. We should also ask: Are hospitals becoming more efficient? Are businesses becoming more productive? Are ordinary people saving time?

This is why I believe technological progress requires two things: Mobilization and technology. Mobilization organizes people, resources and institutions. Technology makes that organization more productive.

Technology alone doesn’t solve institutional problems. You need infrastructure, trained people, funding, incentives and processes that actually work. Buying computers for a broken system doesn’t automatically fix the system
