@WMS_UniKent @UniKentHistory @IFFmuseum Interested in several of these, but sadly, at this time of year and the weather, I won't be travelling from E Midlands. Hope to catch up later.

Many thanks to @Taff_Gillingham for his informative talk last night on the 11th (Service) Bn, The Suffolk Regt (Cambs/Suffolk), and his candid update on how he sees the @GreatWarHuts heritage project developing. A near record turnout with many new faces we hope to see again.

Please RT! We’re really proud to be tackling a new project @GreatWarGroup talking to people about Lions & Donkeys, putting this outdated appreciation into a modern context using studies of Douglas Haig, Britain’s Commander in Chief in #WW1 There will be talks, on & offline, a battlefield command tour at the end of 2025 & a new volume of research on Britain’s chief. We have nine excellent contributors/topics already but there is room for a handful more. Some unfinished areas at the moment are 1916, the opening of the spring offensives, personal aspects, Haig’s experiences of war prior to 1914 and post war/remembrance and legacy. This could well be worth a watch this evening - BBC4 '100 Days to Victory' at 2000 (episode 1) and then at 2100 (episode 2): bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0b…

@CambsWFA @GreatWarHuts This has all the promise of another very interesting presentation. The second of three meetings featuring Cambridgeshire and a good attendance is to be expected.

Many thanks to Dr Jo Costin for her, thought provoking and enlightening, talk on how Cambs addressed the issues raised by mass recruitment during WW1. The talk clearly illustrated the local level challenges balancing the competing needs of the battle and home fronts.

@wtbattlefields @CWGC @Sk_Regt_Museum @Taff_Gillingham @dizzernp @laGrandeMine @CambsWFA Many thanks for the additional background, always interesting. @Taff_Gillingham is @CambsWFA next month, talking about the Cambs/Suffolks. On 4 Oct Dr Jo Costin talks about recruitment in our county and the effects on agriculture & industry. Very timely.
