Loving the new @neondatabase website 💚 And Neon is now an all-in-one set of backend tools: database, object storage for your files, functions, authentication(managed better auth), and ai gateway. All tools are GA and ready for production. Ask your agents to deploy them.
Jev is seriously impressive and it's going to be a total game-changer for enterprise automation workflows. Finally got through the waiting list this morning (thank you @typesafeai) and started testing it in a few of my personal projects. Here's a real example that shows its utility. I have a personal finance app where I upload my credit card and bank statements, and pass each transaction line to an LLM to classify them into categories (shopping, dining, groceries etc...). Thought that would be the perfect test for Jev and it is seriously fast. For this specific task, it turned out to be 3x faster and anywhere from 11x to 38x cheaper than this leading lab's models. This is going to be a huge deal for enterprise automation use cases. PS: I have only checked the speed and cost for this run. I haven't thoroughly tested accuracy yet. For instance, my "Challenger PLQ" spend left uncategorized by Jev, but an LLM easily tagged it as shopping. I’ll be running more tests soon. Unpopular opinion but, taste is not the moat in AI. Designers keep treating it like an irreplaceable skill. But taste is pattern recognition (“intuition”) of great work. The gap between “AI slop” and “great design” is closing every month. This is for what’s worth.
6/ New LLM eval idea: The McMaster-Carr Test. Ordering the right part is so specific and nuanced that it requires a level of detail most models still struggle with. If an agent can navigate those SKUs and find the exact bolt for the job, it’s legit.
5/ Total Cost of AcquisitionMcMaster is rarely the cheapest, and they don't care. They focus on "total cost of acquisition" rather than unit price. If a machine is down, the $20 shipping on a $5 part is irrelevant—the only metric that matters is that the part is there by 10:00 AM. Operational mastery > Marketing hype.
