Reports indicate robberies have escalated from knives to gunpoint. 2️⃣ ILLEGAL STREET RACING: Drivers flying through residential streets at speeds approaching 100 MPH, doing donuts, and sometimes driving without license plates. Fatal incidents have also been reported. 3️⃣ GROUP ASSAULTS: Groups of 10 or more allegedly roam the streets looking for trouble. According to victim accounts, they provoke confrontations before jumping or ambushing their targets. In Manhattan Beach, a Ukrainian teenager was reportedly beaten so severely he lost sight in one eye. Another man was brutally beaten and hospitalized for an extended period. In Sheepshead Bay, a homeless man was reportedly beaten so badly he nearly lost his life. These are recurring crime patterns, not isolated concerns. The incidents are documented, yet there's barely a peep from those who should be addressing them. How many more victims before these problems receive the attention they deserve? An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested and charged with sexual abuse on Wednesday after being accused of groping a woman in a Brooklyn lounge. Jerry Arce, 31, allegedly touched the breast and genitals of the victim without consent at PiCH, a Caribbean restaurant and lounge on Flatbush Ave. near Clarkson Ave. in Flatbush around 7 p.m. on May 25, according to the criminal complaint against Arce. The victim, who was sitting to Arce’s left inside the lounge, told an NYPD Special Victims Unit detective that Arce placed his hand on her breast without her consent and then put his hand between her thighs and touched her genitals, also without consent, the complaint states. When the victim looked at him, he quickly withdrew his arm, according to the complaint. Arce was charged with sexual abuse, forcible touching and harassment in Brooklyn Criminal Court and released. He is assigned to New York City Housing Authority developments in Coney Island, Brighton Beach and Red Hook in Brooklyn, and has been a police officer since 2017. A 24-year-old woman was raped inside a Bronx home, and the NYPD has identified her attacker. The victim was sexually assaulted inside a residence near Jerome Ave. and Marcy Place in Highbridge around 1 a.m. on Sept. 29. The suspect also stole the victim’s phone valued at roughly $1,000. Medics rushed the victim to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition. She and her attacker knew each other and are acquaintances, a police source said. The NYPD identified the suspect as Ajene Nelson, 24. He has three arrests on record, all from 2000, with charges including burglary, robbery and criminal contempt. Police released an image of Nelson on Thursday and are asking for the public’s help tracking him down. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
