The project will be adding a new regular lane in each direction of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. Behind the k-rail, crews have been constructing a new general purpose lane to make your drive smoother when the project is completed in 2027.

Construction Term of the Week: Overhead Sign Structures 🛣️ These freeway signs guide drivers with exits, interchanges, and lane info. On the 55 Freeway, new and upgraded signs are being added to improve traffic flow and safety across Orange County.
Crews are expected to reconstruct the southbound SR-55 MacArthur Boulevard off-ramp, which will require an extended closure of the ramp. The off-ramp is expected to close as soon as 10 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 9 and reopen to motorists by 5 a.m., Friday, Sept. 19.

In observance of Labor Day, there will be no closures scheduled from Friday, Aug. 29 through Monday, Sept. 1. Construction activities will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
