Revenue per order tells only half the story. Add the cost of returns, support and payment fees before calling a channel profitable.

A cash forecast built on one “expected payment date” is pretending certainty. Give receivables a range: likely, late, disputed. One date hides risk. Three states expose it.
A loan payment can contain interest and principal. Both use cash; principal repayment is not an expense in the P&L. Keep the split visible when explaining why profit and cash moved differently.
Example: cost 80, selling price 100. Markup is 25% of cost; margin is 20% of sales. Put the denominator beside the percentage before comparing two offers.
Before combining results in different currencies, choose the reporting currency and conversion rule. Otherwise, a movement in exchange rates can look like a change in operating performance.
Zero sales and missing sales data need different responses. One calls for an operating review. The other calls for a data check. A blank cell should not quietly become zero.
Keep owner distributions separate from operating costs when reviewing performance. They reduce cash, but do not explain how the business traded.
A customer deposit brings in cash before the work is delivered. It also creates an obligation to the customer. Treating every receipt as earned revenue hides that obligation.
An internal transfer can appear as an outflow in one bank account and an inflow in another. Eliminate it when consolidating cash movements, or moving your own money starts looking like business activity.
The bank balance includes money that may already be needed for payroll, taxes, or supplier payments. “Cash on hand” and “cash available” can mean different things.
Revenue can look healthy while overdue invoices build up. The age of receivables tells a different part of the cash story.
A forecast becomes less useful when its assumptions stay hidden. Keep the assumption that would change the decision in view.
A recurring subscription deserves a regular review. A small monthly payment can outlast the task it was meant to support.
A supplier’s due date and your planned payment date belong in the same cash view. The gap between them can change what the business can commit to.
Inventory has a cost in the P&L and a second cost in time: cash can stay tied up long after the purchase.
A refund total shows how much was returned. The reason shows where the sales or service process may need attention.
If a month-end adjustment keeps recurring, it has stopped being an adjustment. It is a process waiting to be fixed.
