Make $35m and retire to a farm....the wet dream of many men. We had this guy named Ryan on Moneywise today and he did this. The story: - Ryan Levesque is 44 years old - Ran a $100m+ rev info/software co (Ask Method) for 10+ yrs. Invested the profits. - Now has ~$35m liquid (public markets + VC/PE funds) - Sold the company in 2024 and bought a 150 acre farm in Vermont for ~$5m Cost to run the farm: ~$220K/yr mortgage + taxes ~$175-260K/yr operations/livestock/equipment/labor ~$500K/yr all-in Raises 100% of his family's protein. Cattle, pigs, chickens, turkeys, 48 beehives, 1,000+ maple taps. Good quotes from the ep: "I don't know if this is enough forever, but it's certainly enough for now." "Wherever you are, the number you want is about 2x. It does not change." "If I doubled my net worth tomorrow, what would I do? I can do all of it right now." Full ep: youtube.com/watch?v=TZdwuf…
Anybody with over a million dollars of net worth should have some real estate exposure. The problem with stocks is when things get scary or emotional, it's too easy to sell. I had a bunch of Amazon stock that I sold and I really wish I still had it. Real estate takes three to six months to sell and it's expensive to do. That friction is a feature, not a bug. It keeps you from making an emotional decision you'll regret later.
I will teach my children business. How to run businesses, make money, hire, manage, sell. They won’t be artists, doctors, lawyers, athletes. They’ll have freedom and get wealthy.
Today is a special day for me. I've made $3M with my 36 startups. Solo. 85% margin. Bootstrapped. It took 10 years, and I loved every second of it. After failing as an entrepreneur for 5 years, I got a job in 2021. That's when I discovered @levelsio's journey and decided to try again. "If he can do it, maybe I can too?" So I started building tiny startups and writing about it. 2021 and 2022 were quiet, but I was having fun. Everything changed in 2023 when I launched ShipFast and made my first million. Building something people finally paid for and enjoyed made me so happy. My first 5 years of failures taught me not to get emotionally attached to a project, because everything goes to 0 eventually. So I just kept shipping. It's 2026, and I've launched 36 startups. 50% never made money. Only 11% made decent money. Back in 2016, when I started, I believed I would make it. If I had known it would take 7 years of failure, I probably would never have started. That's why I'm stupidly optimistic. I don't think in years. I don't dream big. I think in weeks. I build tiny projects fast. And I quit even faster. That's how I wake up happy, enjoy the journey, and eventually build life-changing projects. If you've been following the journey, thank you. You've given my posts a sense of purpose, which has kept me going, and I'm very grateful for this. ❤️
If your job isn’t jumping between your AI agents and frantically whispering what they should do next you’re really missing out

Visiting the dentist is such an interesting way to track AI adoption over time. 6 months ago, zero AI. Today, AI is analyzing my x-rays and transcribing the conversation. Wonder what 6 months from now will look like.

A lesson I just taught a Flexport employee is that there are two lenses you can look at the world through: 1) Doing more work is bad 2) Solving problems is how you make money Always and forever use lens 2. More work is good if it lets you solve important problems.
