Does anyone else find themselves dreading the weekends these days? I just keep working like a maniac, because I feel too numb to actually get pleasure out of any leisure activities that are still an option..

So the pharmacist just gave me a side eye and said they need to call my psychiatrist because they are “not familiar” with my doctor. That just makes me feel so great.

I'm seeing some tweets about tenure-track faculty getting an extra year on their tenure clock and that's definitely a good idea. But! What about grad students? Are we expected to just carry on doing research? We need that extra year too. Also, a living wage.

I am ok with working from home since I already have a pretty good routine. BUT! This routine fully depends on my meds and my psychiatrist doesn’t seem to be available at the moment. I have about two months’ worth of meds if I ration. No idea what to do when I run out😱

I failed a subject that I am now teaching — and getting glowing evaluations for it too! I think failing to understand something at first makes one a much better educator in the long run. You gain a lot more insight into different ways of approaching the subject.

In-class exams are such a strange and inefficient way of testing knowledge. -We want to know how well the students understand X. -I know, let’s have them recall several weeks‘ worth of material under time pressure! What exactly are we testing here?..

I think one of the ugliest consequences of undiagnosed #ADHD for me is that I managed to get through college by focusing all my energy on survival and never actually got that valuable skill of ”learning how to learn.” Boy, is it messing up my grad school career..

How do we know someone’s research is good? Many in academia would say ”It’s good if you can't tear it down.” This approach × #ADHD × my dissertation = an ugly combo. If I'm not careful, I will hyperfocus on flaws, forget the main idea, and end up in a writing coma for days.

Saying that Donald Trump acts the way he does because of an Adderall dependency speaks volumes to your friend who is too scared to tell anyone about their ADHD. Yes, I realize the majority of the tweets are talking about him sniffing it (which is abuse), but come on.
