MacLean was a revelation, as was Romanov. Reilly held his own (esp in the playoffs), Palmieri proved there was still something left. Nelson disappeared, can't have Cizikas on a first line and of course, Ilya. Not sure a tear-down is needed, but certainly have to infuse new blood
Wrong take. They made playoffs AND they battled 5 games vs. the best & had chance to win EVERY one of them They proved MANY wrong for 45+ games They need to get faster. They need more talent. They need another D puckmover Solid under Roy. Big summer ahead Lou passes torch.

This #isles was best fwd unit of Lou era also the worst defensive unit of the Lou era I think the gap starts on the backend In 2020 we had Leddy + Toews We never replaced them, some guys (Pulock) regressed Need Dmen who can drive puck out of dzone (Dobson aint one of them)
The #Isles can play with the Canes, but they can't beat them. The gap isn't small, but it's not massive either. They're good enough to compete, not good enough to contend. It's unclear how they close the gap.
