Reconciliation Week calls on us to reflect on what has been achieved, and what we can achieve together still. This morning in Parliament House, I met with Australians who are raising their voices together – in support of the Voice.
We can be a country where we recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians in our constitution. A country where we listen to the people most affected by policy decisions. A more reconciled Australia. @RecAustralia
@AlboMP @RecAustralia this will "reconcile" nothing
@AlboMP @RecAustralia No. A modern CONSTITUTION should not make specific provisions about any specific individual, group, race, political party, or religion, discriminatory or privileged. Part of the reason why you and other Republicanists are against the constitutional monarchy, isn't it?
@AlboMP @RecAustralia They were recognised in 1967 #VoteNoAustralia 🇦🇺
@AlboMP @RecAustralia Recognition is one thing but a voice to parliament shove that where it fits
@AlboMP @RecAustralia We all agree with you it's the add-on of the Voice that we don't like and will not vote for. We elect a government to govern for all the people Your government should listen to the people who are most affected. There are enough advisory bodies already.
@AlboMP @RecAustralia 4/4 Soy Latte and forget about it for another decade" How long until the destruction of 65,000 years of culture is complete? Probably well less than another 56 yrs.
@AlboMP @RecAustralia You can bully people all you like. You can guilt trip all you like. Until every last indigenous child is protected from sexual abuse. Until they accept their own problems it is a no from me and my indigenous wife. You are too putrid for words bullying people.
@AlboMP @RecAustralia Please, don’t let the opposers of the #VoiceToParliament water it down. We’ll be voting YES to constitutional recognition of Aboriginal & Torres Straight Islander peoples. Because it’s the right thing to do and it’s way overdue.
