A lot of US healthcare is driven by our litigious society Doctors rec acetaminophen for pain/fever in preg b/c it’s the safest option The company that makes Tylenol doesn’t rec any med in preg b/c they 1) don’t want to risk being sued & 2) don’t have any pts in need of care

I’m still working through the 2 days of ACIP (at 2x speed), but the one thing I can say is that while RFK undoubtedly chose these folks w some broad predetermined outcomes in mind, they don’t have their act together enough to possibly predetermine the outcome of any specific vote

Ridiculous statements & decisions by public health leaders certainly created an environment in which a crank like RFK can end up as Sec of HHS, but it didn’t force Trump to pick him He could have chosen—and can still choose—to have a competent person in this important position

I have not had the patience to listen to the entire hearing, but I gather all the Republican senators chickened out and failed to call for RFK‘s resignation/removal A very pathetic showing of political self interest and/or tribalism over actually caring about the American people
