@AGMSports @RealMerked8 @ASU @Cronkite_ASU @CronkiteSports x.com/CooperKrigbaum… I’m not saying you’re not right, but there are people from CS on it.

Not to make everything about the Leafs, but I don’t think there is a zero chance this letter from the 7 ASU Hockey players is coming only a few days after the Toronto Maple Leafs were practicing at Mullet Arena isn’t pure coincidence. nhl.com/news/topic/sho…

@CapsChirp That’s throwing out the baby with the bath water. A prompt independent investigation would have been a good place to start.

@CHN_AdamWodon Do you see why people have an issue with your report a week or two ago?

As an alumnus, a fan, a ticket holder, this has been embarrassing to say the least. No outcome will feel just enough to the family of Mayich if he never recovers, but I hope they do get a piece of closure once this is all said and done.

Greg Powers should never coach a hockey game ever again, at any level. As the saying goes, it’s not the crime, it’s the cover up. Powers did everything to try and cover this up, including making his players feel intimidated enough that they didn’t want to speak up.

The hubris of Greg Powers to think that he’d be able to manipulate this situation, create a narrative that didn’t make him look bad, that shifted blame away from him and the choices he made on August 20th and the days following is astounding.

@benholdenpxp Whoever it is, it’ll be interesting to see his salary–in part or otherwise–be covered by the Greg Powers coaching endowment.

@Avry I think this is a little much. He won’t coach again at the NCAA level, but he doesn’t need a ban for that to be the case. Maybe a transitioning program might hire him, but they’d still probably have much better options. A ban would be more symbolic than anything IMO

I have no doubt that the delay on Powers being ousted is related to the endowed coaching position that was created last year, as well as who will take his place and that of any other coach that will be fired as a result. Source: Vibes

Arizona State hockey players are still reeling from watching Matthew Mayich collapse during a team workout. And almost every day, they interact with the coach who approved the training session, while their teammate remains on life support. Read for free: nyti.ms/4AiGaFE

@CHN_AdamWodon He can be a coach that a lot of the players like, and also deserve to face the consequences of his negligence, both can be true. Not following ASU/NCAA protocols is negligent.

@CHN_AdamWodon The player named seems to not understand why people scrutinizing Powers are doing so. Nobody thinks he made Mayich do things that lead to what happened. It was his negligence, the fact that the proper steps weren’t followed on a number of levels.

@AZHockeyFan1 @AustinReporting @ForksUpPucks @TheAthletic It sounds like this hard-ass, militaristic approach is more recent, which might coincide with a feeling of not having a lot of control for Powers. This is his attempt at trying to regain that control. Regardless, based on what happened, he needs to go. I suspect he will.

@AZHockeyFan1 @AustinReporting @ForksUpPucks @TheAthletic As ASU transitioned into the best conference in College Hockey, its prospect pool and players are now of different caliber. And the underdog, unqualified coach probably is a bit more exposed.
