An innovative idea is turning waste into opportunity. For years, cow horns were discarded as waste. Now, a social enterprise is transforming them into stylish eyeglass frames. #NTVNews bit.ly/47DBvBT?utm_me…

Chicago Marathon - Economics As a country, we must change how we educate our economists because there isn’t evidence of the value of economists. The thinking and reasoning of our economists should be focused on ideas that can better our economy beyond borrowing. Chicago marathon for example generates over usd 600m annually to the economy of the US and Chicago as a city. Creates close to 5k jobs in the city of Chicago each year. Like research has shown, when 1 or 2 jobs are created by tourist in a developed country, same one tourists will create close to 6 jobs in a less developed country. About 50k runners go to Chicago for Chicago marathon, 100s of thousands go either watch or just have fun annually and that’s spending power, bottom line is money earned. The reasoning is basic, one need less money to create jobs in less developed country. The earnings from a tourists goes way deeper in less developed country. How do they achieve this as Chicago? - invest in massive marketing and making sure they have quality timing, international certifications. 2- close to usd 900k is spent on money awards to top runners or winners. The usd 900k dollars attracts the Elite runners who come with lots of media interest, they too attract social runners. The social runners are generally the real money spenders, they are good at running but not elite runners. They are mainly mid class to upper class economically. Every time we see and read about say Chicago marathon, we should dig deep since we want our economy to grow, osmosis won’t do it for us. I have written about this before, cities have 4 attractions and am talking about population growth and they are; 1 - economic opportunities, major services like tourism benefit cities more than rural areas because that’s where ideas generally generated. Cities have massive marketing budgets for the cities with an exemption of Ugandan cities. There isn’t a budget to market Kampala abroad. 2- education opportunities, good schools tend to be in and around cities 3- good or better health services tend to be in around cities 4- security tends to be better in cities because wealth has to generally be protected The first reason which is economic opportunity looks after the last 3, without economic opportunities, health, education and security won’t exist. The 3 need money generated from businesses. When a country borrows for health, education and security, the country in due time fails to pay loans. Borrow and invest in major economic activities and the 3 will thrive automatically.

Jacob Kiplimo wins the 2025 Chicago Marathon in a time of 2.02.23 - becoming the first Ugandan to win a World Marathon Major. This was his second marathon event, having finished second on debut in London back in April. Kenyans Amos Kipruto and Alex Masai came second and third, respectively. #MonitorUpdates #MonitorSport

If I become president, there won’t be time to waste in elections. I will bring a law where a president of a political group and his team rule for 15-years none stop, after that mandated to handle over the mantle to the opposition that has been learning about what works and doesn’t in our ideology, and they rule for 15years without elections, and then we come back and rule. I think that method relieves us the burden of spending a lot of money in elections, and also limited unnecessary manifesto interruptions. An ideology needs time to be nurtured so that results of it are conspicuous. You cannot enforce an ideology in the 5-years period window, one of which is wasted in elections!

A solution would be to drop corporate tax to 15% (global tax rate), get bank interest reduced and get more entities/people into tax bracket. The reality of doing business is far from the discussion. e.g Getting a bank loan is like squeezing blood out of stone.

In Uganda taxes are way too high in the context of our economy. If a manufacturer borrows @ 18% add 30% income tax, millions in UNBS fees, import tax on inputs, business overheads its near impossible to do business manufacturing.
