Saudi Arabia and the UAE had the money, weapons and airpower—but their Yemen campaign still failed to defeat the Houthis. Since the Houthis captured Sanaa in 2014, Saudi-UAE-backed forces have remained divided among factions with different leaders, loyalties and political goals, while the Houthis have maintained a more centralized command. Airpower had its limits too. The Houthis responded with missiles and drones, proving that air superiority alone could not defeat them. More importantly, many Saudi-backed fighters were motivated by salaries and local interests, while the Houthis built a strong ideological narrative around resistance and opposition to Israel and the United States. The result was a fundamental difference: Saudi-backed forces had greater resources, but the Houthis had greater cohesion and a more unified political project. Yemen showed that wars aren't won by weapons alone—command, motivation and cohesion can matter just as much. #SaudiArabia #iran #uae #Houthi #HouthiRebels
