My father, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., had bouts of depression. I’ve had my struggles, as well. My mother shared about mine in her published memoir. You’re not weak. You’re not the only one. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255
I want to clarify that weak does not = bad. And that there’s strength in sharing our weaknesses. However, I want to encourage people not to label depression as weakness.
@BerniceKing Thank you for being you!

@BerniceKing You are a great woman to reach out and speak up to all people. We all have universal experiences to share together, and you have the rare gift to see and embrace the humanity IN ALL OF US.
@BerniceKing I'm going through some stuff right now and it's really hard not to let the sadness and anxiety take control. Reach out when you need to - people love you and want to help.
@BerniceKing You are so brave to share your struggles. Warrior!
@BerniceKing Thank you for sharing. I have PTSD people don't understand mental health.
@BerniceKing @TiMoudou As one ages, we understand there are so many physical things that attack mere humans: cancer diabetes, viruses we only understand a few of, and the list continues. What is maddening is the need for our minds to make things worse with depression. It is a disease.
