If poor thoracic extension or shoulder flexion causes an athlete to bend forward too much from their hip in the overhead deep squat, try using a band to exaggerate their fault. By exaggerating what they are doing poorly, we help program their body to pattern correctly.

When somebody is injured it is important to be aware of how your conversation with them will make them feel. They need reassurance that they will be ok, which in 99.9 % of cases they will be. They should also leave you with a plan of action to empower them to self-help. 👍🏻

When assessing for range in hip extension it’s important to also check whether rectus femoris tightness is contributing to pelvic dysfunction. A recent client looked good in hip extension but showed major compensation when assessing for range in couch stretch position. #backpain
