Opponents of HB 238, Alabama’s proposed $10.64 prescription dispensing fee need to recognize that pharmacies must make a profit on the products sold. Continued reimbursement at or below cost is unsustainable.
@AccPharmacist So why doesn't the bill force insurance companies to pay it instead of allowing it to be passed onto consumers?
This what we pay insurance premiums for. America is shocked as they learn that we pay insurance only for the insurance companies, their PBMs, & shareholders to get siphon profits by the billions. Then, we are left still paying 100% of the costs that we paid the insurance companies to cover. We pay insurance in trusting that they'll pay the providers enough that they will not be forced to close. Certainly, we are shocked to learn that sometimes these insurance companies PBMs even take back MORE than they initially reimbursed. That's abusive & should be theft. If insurance companies are no longer able to pay healthcare providers as they pay millions of dollars to executives, billions to Wallstreet... then they're no longer doing what they're intended to do. It's time for insurance companies and their PBMs to pay their share.
