It was truly awful to see that not a single bishop turned up for the remembrance of Ann Widdecombe in the House of Lords. A woman of deep, unwavering Roman Catholic faith, Ann centred her entire life and political career on her Christian beliefs, from her principled stands on life issues to her tireless advocacy for persecuted Christians. Her devotion to both Church and country was total and courageous. Even if they disagreed with some of her views, the least the Lords Spiritual could have done was show basic respect for her lifelong dedication. Instead, their absence speaks volumes: too lost in woke values, lacking the courage to honour a woman of real conviction. A sad reflection on where parts of the establishment Church have drifted. Rest in peace, Ann, you were a true servant of faith and principle. 🙏

What I hope is going on here is that a woman has completely legally taken her driving test and passed and has ended up being unwittingly used as part of a scam advert. But there are A LOT of videos like this doing the rounds on social media at the moment

A pro-Palestine activist has sparked anger after filming himself spitting in the face of the statue of murdered MP Sir David Amess on Chalkwell seafront. The man, who goes by the name ‘Angry Jesus’, filmed himself approaching the memorial to the former Southend MP before spitting directly onto the statue’s face. The footage has prompted condemnation from some local councillors, just days after Southend marked the fifth anniversary of Sir David’s tragic murder. Sir David was killed while holding a constituency surgery in Leigh-on-Sea on 15 October 2021. His statue was unveiled in April 2024 as a permanent tribute to his decades of public service and tireless campaigning for Southend to become a city. Councillor Matt Dent condemned the man’s actions, saying: “Whatever your views of his politics, spitting on the statue or Sir David Amess is an assault on the city of Southend, and on common decency. I hope Essex Police will throw the book at this individual.” Southend City Council leader Daniel Cowan also spoke out, responding: “This individual is behaving vilely and that behaviour is not welcome in our city.” The statue, overlooking the Thames Estuary, was created by sculptor Andrew Lilley and funded through donations, with Sir David’s family attending its unveiling. It is not yet clear whether the incident has been reported to Essex Police or whether any investigation is under way.

🚨 A 15-year-old boy was woken by four West Midlands Police officers banging on his door. Fraser, a schoolboy and Reform UK activist, was arrested in front of his neighbours, bundled into a police car and held overnight in a cell. His mugshot and DNA were taken; even his shoes were confiscated. While he was in the cell, officers searched his bedroom at home. His “crime”? Criticising a Conservative councillor for wearing shorts and a T-shirt to a council meeting, then joking on social media that the councillor “was not looking like a rent boy” when he wore a suit. Fraser also posted an altered photograph of the councillor wearing bunny ears. In what self-respecting democracy should a child be arrested for criticising an elected politician? The Free Speech Union is supporting Fraser and has taken on his case. His lawyers received an email from West Midlands Police stating that “it is alleged that your client’s comments could be considered a hate crime offence”. Months later, Fraser is still waiting to learn whether he will be charged. Speaking to the New York Post, FSU Director of Legislative Affairs Sam Armstrong said: “Broadly speaking, several thousand people a year are being arrested for… ‘offensive speech’ in the UK.” Since 2020, the FSU has handled more than 7,000 cases involving people whose free speech has been infringed and who have been punished for exercising it. More than 60,000 people have also been arrested for communications offences in the UK. The First Amendment protects US citizens’ right to free speech.
