The lock theory is nonsense, someone left the front door open. Everyone passing by could look right in. This story demonstrates negligence in proper code design and review. The developer should be responsible for their negligence as they technically “exposed” the PII.

One big problem with Iris Recognition (like other biometric data): if a database of biometric information is stolen or compromised, it is not possible to get a new set of eyes like one would get a reissued credit card number. eff.org/pages/iris-rec…
