So you're telling me the mainstream media got another story wrong that was meant to be an embarrassment to Trump? I don't believe it. (Just kidding. I believe it.)

If the CL personals section was still a thing, I wonder how active it would be over the next month, with everyone at home, most bored out of their skulls. My guess: it would be the greatest hookup environment ever ... with some only having sex while wearing N95 masks.

Hopefully, it won't take long for dating/hookup sites to figure out how to weed out the girls breaking the law from those who just want to have some fun.

And there it is. The President has signed the bill to fight online sex trafficking. ANY website that allows prostitution to be advertised is now putting themselves in deep legal jeopardy. x.com/FoxNews/status…

On Friday, Backpage.com was closed down. Finally! The Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act was specifically aimed at Backpage, and for good reason. Yes, they may have been an alternative to CL personals at one point, but ...

@BodyRubByToni Thank you so much, Toni! Are any of those non-escort sites? I'm specifically trying to find sites for regular guys to find regular girls for completely legal, non-paid fun.

Meanwhile, I will continue to keep an eye out for online personals sections that might effectively replace the CL personals. For now Doulblelist.com is the best I've found, although it's still at least a year away from being an effective tool for finding new friends.

Hopefully, the end of Backpage is a step in the right direction in the fight against prostitution and human smuggling, and it's a step in the RIGHT direction in getting better personals websites for law-abiding citizens.

@SteveJ21480 So if you're going to use DoubleList.com, be smart and open a new email address that you can dump once it gets too bogged down with spam. Other than that, I think DoubleList could end up becoming a really great CL alternative!

@SteveJ21480 2. DoubleList is going to have the same issues with spam that Craigslist had. Right now, if you use DoubleList, you can't hide your email address. So understand that, whatever email address you use, that address will eventually be on every single spammer list in existence.

@PPacking And by "matter of time," I'm thinking like within 48 hours of whenever the President signs it into law.

@PPacking Oh yes. This bill, as I understand it, is the federal government coming straight for Backpage, specifically.

@PPacking And sites like Backpage were allegedly helping the prostitution industry come up with language to communicate "here's an underage prostitute" without actually saying it. And that's how we get legislation that shuts everything down.

@PPacking Not being a lawyer, that sounds to me like ALL sex for money. But what I've found is that, among the legislators, this was specifically about child prostitution. Evidently, every ad that says things like, "new in town" is code for underage prostitute.
