My lukewarm take on the Tenant Bill of Rights announced yesterday by the feds: I think its mainly about data transparency. The fed govt doesn't know much about rents in secondary units (& also these may be under the table/ not counted on taxes). 1/3 cbc.ca/news/politics/…:~:

Lease standards a good wedge into renter rights IMO, as is more $$ for legal clinics. Longer leases, $$ for tenant unions, reducing evictions, negotiated cost-based rent increases that include stable returns for landlords, landlord licensing... Denmark 3/3 theguardian.com/business/2022/…
