Essy had cancer throughout her body. She could walk, eat or drink. The time was right. She might just have been a street dog but she left with her body guard Hank, lots of love, pain relief and a lovely send off. A life well lived and dignity at the end 🥰 (5/5)
After sitting with her for most of 18 hours watching her Hank moved away. I saw him do this before with Valentina who passed with us too. He moved as far away then into the house. Shortly after she went downhill and it was time for us to let her go. Hank knew (4/5)
I’ve known Essy a while. I’ve never known her to make noise or bark. She’s always been a very quiet dog. I sat with her all morning and when I went to have a shower she cried out. She wasn’t in pain but she didn’t want to be alone. (3/5)
She had big Hank my dog watching over her. I bring them to my house at end of their lives so they can have some extra comfortable rest, air con and full time care. Hank barely moved from her side in the time she was here (2/5)
We said goodbye to Essy today. We have lots of wins but I’m a firm believer that helping the dogs at the end of their life is just as important as anything else we do. Essy felt nothing but love and care at the end… (1/5) 🧵

When there is a natural disaster, these dogs are there to save human lives. They find and rescue people. Even days later they can be saved. They ask for nothing more than water, food and love. People who think they are ''just dogs'' should remember - these dogs are heroes!
