The best chip in the world cannot add value if the data it is fed is wrong. While Excel's historical handling of stock market data has hopefully improved, basic corporate action adjustments still appear to be poorly understood by those responsible for maintaining the data. Today's example is Corteva (CTVA) and the October 1 spin-off of its seed business. To preserve the analytical value of historical price data, virtually all data providers adjust pre-spin-off price history to reflect the value transferred to the new entity. This removes an economically irrelevant discontinuity and preserves the integrity of charts, returns calculations, moving averages, and other analytical tools. Microsoft appears to be a notable exception. By failing to make this adjustment in a timely manner, the company compromises the reliability of its historical price series and raises questions about the quality-control processes governing this specific dataset.

@stocktradernet No matter what they say, quantum is still 20+ years away.

@alphacharts365 Had to unfollow Jerremy Newsome for his reposting this.

@enzoxbt Thanks for posting.

Satya, I hope this note actually reaches you, because Excel’s StockHistory() function is now in its fifth consecutive day of returning no data at all. This is not an isolated glitch. It is the latest failure in a years‑long pattern of unreliability that has quietly damaged trust in one of the core applications of the Office suite. If this issue ever reaches your desk, I hope you will recognize that you have been insulated from the volume and persistence of complaints. The ongoing reliability problems with StockHistory() have not been managed, and the lack of accountability within the organization has allowed a critical feature to deteriorate without meaningful correction. I can only hope that this time the severity of the outage prompts real attention, and that affected customers are finally relieved from the destructive effects of organizational neglect.

@JoaoDAbrantes @Office @Microsoft Stockhistory() has been a recurring issue for many years. Zero Recognition of, or accountability for, from MS.

@satyanadella Hope their not using Excel StockHistory() for anything, during this second day of outage. I know, blame it on your data provider, but remember, it is YOUR data provider, and YOUR customers, and egg on YOUR face.

@satyanadella Does Microsoft know the meaning of "dogfooding"? Obviously not as you continue to feed bad data to the users of Excel's Stockhistory(). MNST split 3 weeks ago, and still no correction to the data. APH split last week, and no adjustment. What are you doing?

@cfromhertz A reversal of XLE wouldn't hurt.

@satyanadella @nvidia Perhaps you would like to celebrate by putting a competent person in charge of Excel's StockHistory() data. $MNST split 2 WEEKS ago, and remains unadjusted to this day. How is this acceptable to you Satya ?

@VivekChirps The lie is in the name, there's nothing "full" about it.

@satyanadella And also fix CVNA, and who within MSFT is sabotaging their own product?

What would make my work easier would be if your Excel Stockhistory() people would do their work. PPLT and PALL stocks were split 10:1 and 5:1 on May 18th, yet over 10 days later StockHistory() has yet to correct historical data to reflect those splits. Please! What is wrong with your organization?

@satyanadella You could also fix EMTY and EFZ that reverse split yesterday.

The descent of Excel's Stockhistory() function almost seems to be a prelude to its cancellation altogether, a tough pill to swallow after years of work from its users. Another data blackout this morning, and stock splits several weeks old still not adjusted in history. Sad really, and the silence is astonishing.

Here I am making a bigger effort to fix a Microsoft product than any employee at the creators of Excel. It's a shame that an indispensable product feature is lying in the gutter of neglect. Imagine my non-surprise to find yet another missed stock split in Excel's stockhistory(), this time in BKNG, for any Microsoft engineer that may see this, a ticker is a short string that associates a company with the markets. The only way this could happen was a decision to cache the data on-site yet neglect hiring anyone to execute the necessary maintenance of the data. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

@wallstengine When private capital has no limits, the only reason for an IPO is to create an exit for early investors, at their imaginary valuation.

Imagine your excitement when one of your stocks is splitting and expected to gain from it. You've been tracking it formonths in your Excel spreadsheet using stockhistory() to gain your advantage in the markets. Now the big day comes and the stock splits, now you're really ging to exploit your analysis engine you have spent years perfecting. Then you see your model break, why? Well it's because MS does no dogfooding on stockhistory, not a single employee or manager knows about their issues with it, except you are the one suffering. Once again, as regular as clockwork, MS has missed another split, this time for ticker POWL. Satya, please put someone in charge, a capable leader that can transform the dormitory you presently have into a solution provider.

@Macro_Jackb_ Of course not. Elon is a religion.

@wallstengine America first to America alone, it's a real investment theme.
