Did I want someone to experience life with? Absolutely! And I still do. That doesn’t mean I have to be miserable until it happens! -LaWanna R. Wilson mahogany.com/?p=224810

Ima say the quiet part out loud. A lot of men are not desirable. Some lack the emotional intelligence (among other things) to have a HEALTHY relationship dynamic. This is one (of the many reasons) why they cling to patriarchy. Because patriarchy puts people in a position to NEED men regardless of if you want them or not. You didn’t have to WANT a man but if you wanted a house you NEEDED a man. You didn’t have to WANT a man but if you wanted stable income in a home you NEEDED a man (this did not apply to BW bc they’ve always had to work, however the gender wage gap does apply to them so my sentiment still remains) you also NEEDED men if you wanted a bank account. My point is men don’t have work on us as a collective if patriarchy keeps us in a space in which we are NEEDED. This is why you see grown ass men on the verge of tears when women say they don’t NEED a man. This is why we’re watching “the protectors of the community” use this woman’s situation as leverage to point out why you NEED men (completely ignoring a man was not only the victimizer but also a myriad of men stood motionless & offered no aid) Men want power and to be needed and Patriarchy provides them with both.

Remember that one dream you thought was impossible? I had one too about becoming a published author. But after years of hard work and never giving up, I finally made it a reality. So keep chasing your dreams! #keepgoing #anythingispossible

It's easy to get caught up in our day-to-day routines, but never forget to stop and chase your dreams. For me, becoming a published author seemed impossible, but now I know anything is possible if you keep at it. #dreambig #followyourpassion

Don't give up on your dreams—keep chasing them! As a kid, I always dreamed of being a published author. And now, after tons of late-night writing sessions, I'm living proof that anything is possible. #nevergiveup #pursueyourpassion

I quit my job at the end of May. The first half of the year I was stressed, on somebody’s clock. The second half I was less stress and in control of my life.

The crazy thing about white readers not reading about POC because they “can’t relate” is that readers of color spend their lives not relating to *anything* we read and yet we keep enjoying books anyway

I...feel like we're not taking into the account that a lot of the reasons for staff shortages is because more than a million people died from COVID in the past few years.

@ndsnas I have been saying this the whole pandemic. My company moved to a new building summer of ‘20 so of course they have to bring us back even though we have proven that we can WFH and be hard working.
