Just started at FaceBook as an intern for the summer, working on stuff related to formal verification of blockchains (read: Boogie/Z3). Not my usual work, but should be interesting, and I'm fortunate to be working with a great team!

So I discovered a Discord server where people frequently ask simple coding questions. Answering them is so addicting, it's absolutely ruining my work...any tips for dealing with wanting to spend all my time helping others work rather than doing my own?

Having spent my Thanksgiving morning trying to manage file I/O in C for the first time in a while, I'm delighted to say that I can successfully print out the number 42 to a file of my choosing (and not much else)!

I will generally avoid politics, but this is a pretty historic moment, so I drew some portraits to commemorate. Congratulations to @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris for their victory (and our first female Vice President!)

After some more reading, the proposed "global warming" fix causes way more problems, so let's just leave that in the experimental branch.

I have some concerns about the current version of our large-scale particle simulator. When can we expect a patch?

We finished our submission to @PLDI 2020! Thank you to my co-authors @euisuny, @samps, @cHHillee, and several others smart enough to not be on Twitter. It was great to work with you all on this project!

It's amazing how working on a paper for a few (?) days is sufficient, at 3am, to convince myself that every idea I've ever had is wrong.

A summary of conversations near paper deadlines: Friend: hey Me: hey Friend: so, how's the paper going? Me: *mumbles incoherently* ...awkward pause Friend: well, good luck! Me: uh, you too! Fin
