The mission field is just as much in our churches as it is in unreached areas throughout the world. #discipleship

Imagine if our Christian view of the End Times was: centered on preparing for Christ rather than an antichrist. centered on the mark of the lamb rather than the beast. centered on preparing for redeeming the earth rather than escaping it. centered on hope rather than fear.

My friend @barrydjones gave his final lecture at Dallas Seminary last week. He offered his students these seven pieces of parting wisdom. Beautiful truths.

I've had 28 Pastor friends resign this year. Almost all of them are transitioning to a new vocation. What is occurring?

@danwhitejr How much of this is the layperson “leading” theologically not “allowing” the pastor too? Pop-culture theology is leading the way, and anything else is “kicked out” or asked to move on, or is quitting...

@takmad @danwhitejr @LAppiah I am a pastor, I have thought about quitting, I haven’t. But IF I did, I have thought I should be the BEST layperson a pastor can have. I get it. I should be able to serve a pastor in really BIG ways. Are there retired pastors that are doing this?

Grieving with you, Scott.

I expected transitions within the congregation coming out of a time of disruption. They still hurt. However, I mostly grieve at how many of them are happening because a fixed political lens pre-determines what is or isn't the Gospel. It is a form of idolatry, and it makes me sad.

@Brcremer While I agree with your sentiment Ben, I think would need to define growth - Bucks and Butts? Big church?

After two National Conventions we have FINALLY found a conviction both sides can passionately agree on: America will enter the apocalypse if the opposing side wins! If we do not outgrow this venomous “You-Are-An-Enemy” mindset, both sides will eventually be proven right.

These words have only become more poignant since Donald Miller wrote them 17 years ago in Blue Like Jazz: "The entire world is falling apart because nobody will admit they are wrong."
