@gtconway3d An EKG can’t reflect age. Period. This doc should undergo a license review if he actually signed this. Chuck Becker, MD

@EM_RESUS Trauma patient asking for water. Either they’re past Stage 3 hemorrhagic shock and with overwhelming thirst, or TBI because they can’t comprehend the severity of the situation they’re involved in.

@CenterPoint Had to get a gas meter upgrade for a generator because @CenterPoint is too incompetent to run power lines and do their sole purpose. Then got a customer survey about how they’re doing…. Can I get one of those C-suite salaries to do nothing?

@EM_RESUS In trauma patients, when they ask for water: 1) They don’t understand the gravity of the situation they’re in, and may be altered. 2) They’re so hypovolemic their homeostatic mechanisms are kicking in hard.

@AmiEverAfter @jtrebach ER doc here. I wouldn’t prescribed a male trazadone for sleep. Or a female. That’s a primary care issue. Lack of sleep is a lot of layers to unwrap before just throwing pills at someone.

@joshmcgoo I work at 2 hospitals. Hospital 1) Lovenox and admit. Hospital 2) EKG, Trop, and BNP normal? Pharmacist verifies their insurance will cover DOAC? VS normal? Patient goes home and I call their PCP.

@joshmcgoo They’re always great for taking a patient sticker and dropping a one-line note in the patient’s chart of “silent prayer said outside of room”. I never notice they’re there.

@FutureMDEric Landlords near my residency hospital were pretty understanding for my co-residents. Dropped the two months rent up front when I showed them my Match letter. Was brokered though through a real estate firm.

@Neurofourier Learn to keep more liquid assets in a bank account than you’re used to. You never know when an absolutely necessary asset breaks down and needs to be replaced ASAP.

@aaamuhlay Vertebral artery injuries are rare enough that it would be reasonable for someone in EM to not know who takes it. A breast oncologist sternly informed me patient’s new DKA at 70yo was due to the patients lung chemo, not breast chemo. I learned something despite the messenger…

@CatDocMD Definitely depends on specialty to which you’re applying. I’m in EM, and it’s important to show you have interests so others know you could be a fun person to get stuck with on an overnight. Surgeons I don’t think allowed to have hobbies because that means they aren’t working.

@hurklydurkly Originally wanted CV surgery or ortho. But then realized I’d finish residency at age 35/37 without any friends or social support. There’s nothing wrong in making career decisions based on work-life balance!

I thought I hated this time of year going through the Match process; interviews are over, Match lists are in for an algorithm that took about 10 minutes to finish. Now as an Academic doctor, I still hate it. Where are our ERs-to-be going?!?
