@heyshrutimishra @laurahollis61 @DebraMMason1 Bezos’ move to stop issuing stock to regular Joe associates (upon move to $15/hour labor which was overdue) at Amazon destroyed the company ethos. The 1 million warehouse employees upon whose back the giant wealth machine was built literally died, in some cases, during COVID-19.

Corporations created the wealth, agreed. Most companies never share equity below the executive floor. SpaceX did, all the way down to hourly welders, which is why this IPO looks different from every other one. If more companies copied that one decision, this debate would get a lot quieter.

@LarrySabato Part of the issue is zero moral courage to tell the plain truth when you’re making millions as a “host.” Cronkite was a reporter, then solely Managing Editor.

@LarrySabato The utter death of Murrow and Cronkite and their standards and moral courage to tell the truth. Just saw two Watergate documentaries — they completely failed to give proper credit to the incredible moral courage of Cronkite using his entire 22-minute evening news to support WPost

@engineers_feed American literally know nothing of Ben Franklin’s scientific life and accomplishments.

@thefactitorium @engineers_feed You are correct sir. Ben Franklin was a natural philosopher. His idol, whom he never met, was Newton, who served as President of the Royal Society of London, which later, 1753, awarded Franklin its highest award, the Copley Medal, the Nobel of Physics of the day.

Technically, at least three people on this list were never "Scientists." The word "Scientist" wasn't coined until 1833 by the polymath William Whewell. Before that, the discipline didn't formally exist as a distinct profession. Isaac Newton, Galileo, and Pythagoras would have identified as "Natural Philosophers." They didn't view their work as a separate job; they viewed it as a branch of philosophy-using logic and observation to decode the "rules of nature." You are applying a modern label to legacy hardware.

@engineers_feed Only 3-4 on that list came before Franklin, the rest were heirs to his breakthroughs.

@engineers_feed You missed completely American colonial scientist Ben Franklin whose 1751 Observations and Experiments in Electricity won for him the 1753 Cooley Medal of the Royal Society of London, the then equivalent of the Nobel Prize for Physics and made him the most famous American.

@engineers_feed But not in the American colonies. To quote Jesus…”No man is a prophet in his own land.” That means locals think you’re just that punk kid Jesus we watched grow up, son of a carpenter. “Who the hell does he think he is??” Franklin’s ideas astoubded the world entirely!

@engineers_feed Copley Medal. The rest of his life — in Britain and France especially — he was thought of like “an Einstein,” and praised as a Prometheus, mythic deliverer of fire to man, like A-Bomb architect Oppenheimer was regarded.

$TSLA now trades at a forward P/E of 180x. In the history of the stock market, we can’t find a single $1T market cap company that traded at a forward P/E of 180x (we even asked Grok with no success). Why not? The long-term growth rate needed to justify a 180x P/E would cause
